Most of the UK's energy comes from fossil fuels. As you are probably aware, fossil fuels create greenhouse gasses. These lead to global warming which is causing all sorts of problems. We need to save energy in any small ways we can: Turning the TV off, walking to school and using Blackle. Blackle is a search engine powered by Google where the majority of your screen is black. All the little lights that make up your computer screen will be turned off instead of displaying white light.
This means that if you set it to your home screen or even just have it on your favourites bar and use it instead of normal Google you will save a little energy. It may only be a little but it all adds up and if everyone used it, we would save loads. They have a running total of the amount of energy saved on their home screen and it's pretty impressive.
