Promarkers

Last Christmas, I got some Promarkers. I had first seen them a few years back in a card making magazine. I had liked the look of them, but thought they were a lot of money considering how much I would use them. Last term however, my English teacher let me use a few of her Copic markers and I loved them. The Copic markers cost £6 per pen though, so I got Promarkers instead as they are  cheaper but still good.

I really love my new Promakers and have so far used them for cardmaking, homework and revision. I love all the colours and choosing new ones. They were hard to blend at first, but I mastered the technique soon enough. They are a great introduction to blendable marker pens as they are not too expensive and not too difficult to use. I definitely recommend them to anyone who loves arts and crafts, especially if they make cards or scrapbook. I have also heard that they are good for comics. Have you tried them?

Sales Shopping Extravaganza

Last Sunday I promised I would tell you about my shopping trip. I planned to tell you sooner than this, but I have been quite busy this week as we had a lot of tests at school.

Last Saturday, me and a couple of friends went to shop in the sales. I bought several books and a really fab top from Saltrock, this cool shop one of my friends introduced to me. It is quite a lot like Animal, with it's practical surf and skate inspired clothing, but their clothes are not so brightly coloured as Animal's. Perhaps I will feature them in future.

I also bought this brilliant book called 642 Fashion Things To Draw. There is a whole series of them, I have another one called 642 Things To Write About. They both contain 642 prompts designed to give you ideas, feed your creativity and help you hone your skills. I love them. The other books I bought were: Only The Good Spy Young and Looking For Alaska. The first is part of the Gallagher Girls series, which is about a school that turns super intelligent girls into spies. The second is a John Green book I have liked the look of for some time.

All in all, we had a great day together and found plenty of deals in the sales. Have you been sales shopping?

Music Madness

My cat has been back to the vets. He has a metal staple in him now holding the wound shut. Hopefully it will heal now. He is very grumpy because we are still making him wear his cone and won't let him out. He fought us even more when we had to put it back on him after his second trip to the vets. There was a lot of growling and hissing and my mum now has several scars!

I had a very musical day yesterday. My friend brought her Ukulele into school. She was playing it in our form room at Lunch, and I had a go. She attempted to teach me the basic strumming pattern, and I played a little to cries of "Go Gemstar" from the boys is my class! Later, I ended up having a bit of free time in the music room, so I picked up a guitar. One of the boys taught me some basics and I found it much more natural than the Ukulele!

I have been thinking of learning the guitar for quite a while, as I sing a lot and they are great instruments for singers. Another friend said she would teach me some, so there might be more on this topic! I already play keyboard, and have done for 5 years now. I really like playing music and singing, I find it really uplifting. Do you play any instruments?

Cat Trauma

Today, I have had a very traumatic day. For a couple of days, I have known there has been something wrong with my cat Bumble. He was walking around the house very slowly and meaowing and growling at us if we tried to touch him. Friday evening, we realised that he had a tuft of fur missing and could see blood. That night, my mum managed to get a proper look and saw that there was an actual deep hole in his side. It was a perfect circle, almost as if somebody has shot him with an air gun.

We took him to the vets this morning. They had a look, cleaned the wound, and took him into the surgery to have a look with a probe. We were sent home with medication and a CAT CONE! When we got home, I went upstairs to get ready to go shopping (I had already planned to go out with my friends before all this happened) while my parents tried to get the lampshade on the cat. I could tell things were not going well by the meaowing, hissing and shouts of "NO" coming from the kitchen. When I came down, they had managed to get it on him. It stayed on for about 5 minutes before he managed to pull it off. We tried a second time and he did the same.

Since we have come back from shopping we have put it on him again with a new collar and this time, with much growling, he has kept in on. I am currently following him around the house stopping him getting stuck and knocking things over. He looks very sad. I am so angry at whatever animal or person did this to him.

I bought lots of stuff whilst out shopping, and was going to talk about them today but this has kind of taken over so I will do that in tomorrow's post. I hope your weekend is going better than mine.

Smartphones

A few months ago, I blogged about how my parents are becoming addicted to their smartphones. I have had a smartphone for a few weeks now, a Microsoft Lumia 535. I don't think I am addicted to it, but I am using my phone more than usual (but then that was what my parents said when I told them they were addicted!).

I really like my new phone, I like the size of the screen, the colour (bright orange) and the apps. However, I am still not 100% convinced about the touch screen keyboard, although it is not as annoying as I thought it would be.

There is one problem though, I think I might be addicted to Subway surfers! I am not as bad as I was when I first downloaded it, but I still play more than I probably should! I only have the one game on my phone at the moment, so if you have any recommendations for apps or games I should download, post them in the comments.

Hockey Fun

It's been so cold lately and yet it still hasn't snowed! It has snowed in the north of the country lots and there has even been snow in some parts of London, but not on the south coast where I live. Disappointing.

I had hockey club after school today but I wasn't too cold. I didn't mind about the weather though, coz I love hockey. It is my favourite sport. There are few things better than charging round an icy pitch hitting a rock hard ball with your own personal weapon (or hockey stick, as some people call them).

Today, we had lots of people from all years playing. Problem is, at this time of year, we only get to play for half an hour because it gets dark so early at the moment. Shame. It was still fun though.

Do you like playing hockey? What's your favourite sport?
Snow is finally falling in London and the rest of the south east tonight, after creeping steadily down the country throughout the day

The Amazing Book Is Not On Fire

I mentioned in a previous post that I got Dan and Phil's new book, the Amazing Book Is Not On Fire for Christmas. I have read it all now and I love it! It is perfect for any fan, as it has the perfect mix of Dan and Phil's background, their current lives as YouTubers and mad stuff.

I particularly liked the page of "Things Phil Thought Were True That Are Not True". I, like Phil, am shocked to discover that Blue from Blues Clues is a girl. However, I still cannot believe that he thought all boys were destined to marry their mums!

The real question is though, is their story of "What Really Happened in Vegas" true. I mean, if anyone is going to accidentally stumble into area 51 it is them two, but it still seems pretty unlikely. I think they may have exaggerated it a little bit...

Probably the most useful section for me was their "Guide To Being A YouTuber" as some of it was relevant to blog writing. I have had many requests from friends at school to start a YouTube account, but I do not plan to at the moment as it takes up much more time than a blog. I sometimes struggle to find time to write this, so I would never be able to do YouTube videos as well. Dan says he spends 5 hours just on the editing of his videos, I usually manage to do my blog in under an hour.

Have you read The Amazing Book Is Not On Fire? What did you think of it?

The Hot Desk

Last Friday night, I discovered a great TV programme: The Hot Desk. Each episode, a different music artist is interviewed by one of 4 presenters while sitting at the hot desk. Last week, Ed Sheeran was on the show being interviewed by Laura Whitmore. He played Would You Rather, told us what was currently in his fridge and played Text, Call or Ignore. He then finally signed the desk along with all the other guests that have been on previously.

I really liked the show because it was short and simple. The questions were fun and about the artist themselves, not whatever new album they are trying to sell. This Tuesday, Alesha Dixon will be on the show at 6.50pm on ITV2. I will definitely be watching, will you?

Boating Disaster

Sorry I haven't posted for a few days, I have been busy. Hopefully I will be able to make up for it this weekend.

Today, we had a very unusual assembly in school this morning. A man from Langstone adventure rowing club came to talk to us. The club row on the open waters in my area. They use large, wooden boats called "Gigs" that are designed for rough seas. The club have trained people for many competition and other events, such as when a group of celebraties including Davina McCall rowed across the channel for sport relief. They came to talk to us because the school has arranged for 12 of us to go and have rowing lessons during PE with the club and maybe even enter some competitions.

After the talk, we went out to have a look at a Gig. We were asked if any of us wanted to sit in the boat. Me and a boy in my year volunteered. I managed to climb in without incident (pretty impressive when you consider that it was all wet and slippery and I was wearing a kilt). We sat on the seats and were given an oar each. They were not as heavy as I was expecting, but then we did not have to hold them very long.

We had a go at rowing, and I came very close to whacking the oar into a pillar. Then we were told to carefully rest the ends on the floor with the handles still in the boat. Unfortunately, when I put mine down, it continued to slide all the way out of the boat until it hit the floor, with the whole year watching. Luckily, the £350 piece of equipment was not broken, and I was able to jump out of the boat without further incident.

Have you ever tried rowing? Do you recommend it?

5SOS Vs The VAMPS

5SOS and The Vamps are, in my opinion, the two best current Rock/Pop bands. But which comes top?

I personally love The Vamps best. They sing upbeat, catchy songs that I love to sing along to. Their album tracks are not quite as fab as their singles, but they are still good and their singles are so great they make up for it. I love their music video for Can We Dance, that party looked so much fun. They are all quite good looking too!

5SOS are good too. They are a bit more edgy, their music style a bit more Rock. I really like some of their singles, but not all of them are as good as The Vamps songs. I don't know about their album tracks though, I've never bought one. Their music video's are amazing, they are all like mini movies with proper story lines.

Who do you prefer? Are you with 5SOS or are you on team Vamps?

Law- Without The Order

Tonight was the first episode of the new series of Brooklyn 99. I love that TV show, it is not quite as good as the Big Bang Theory but it is still one of my favourite series because it is soooooo funny! I love the main character Jake as he is badly behaved but still likable. I think I am most like Amy Santiago as she is organised and sweet. Tonight's episode was great. I am really pleased that Amy and Jake got together, I think they make a great couple.

I may not have a New Year's Resolution, but I have taken a Greenpeace pledge. I have pledged not to buy any single use carrier bags in 2016 and to reduce my plastic use. You can take the pledge for yourself here. If you are one of the first 1000 people to do so you get a free shopping bag that you can use again and again in one of 4 designs.

Beauty Bag Favourites

Oh my god it's freezing at the moment. I wouldn't mind if it snowed. Still, we have plenty of time for that to happen. In the mean time, this is a selection of my current favourite beauty products. All of them are affordable, work brilliantly and have been tried and tested.

Dream Pure BB Cream - This Maybelline BB Cream is brilliant. It makes your skin look naturally better, as it gives you a little coverage without making it obvious you are wearing make up. It is especially designed for spot-prone, oily skin and so is perfect for teenagers. I use it for my everyday look as it is quick and easy to apply and looks natural.

SuperShock Vivid Liquid Eye Shadow - I love this Avon eyeshadow so much I got a second one in another colour! They come in vivid metallic colours that are painted on as a watery liquid but once dry, last all day. They come off very easily as well because they are water based. I have them in Chromed Cocoa and Sparkling Platinum.

The Colour Institute Nail Varnish - These nail varnishes last ages without chipping. They are easy to apply, dry reasonably quickly and come in a range of plain colours, shimmery colours and sparkly top coats.

Nivea Soft - this moisturising cream can be used on face, body and hands. It is very effective and is perfect for the winter months. It comes in handy small pots, perfect for handbags, coat pockets or travelling.

Do you have any recommendations?

It's shopping season! Providing that the weather stops being miserable long enough for me to venture out of my home (this is my 6th day in a row of not leaving the house- scary). New Year's Resolutions

At this time of year, many people of all ages make New Year's Resolutions. I don't usually make any, as I don't really agree with them. If you want to make a positive change, you should be able to do that at anytime of year. Most New Year's resolutions don't last very long into the New Year anyway.

Many of us are forced into making New Year's resolutions by our school or parents. However, if they are created unwillingly, then there will be very little motivation behind them and they are probably going to be broken very quickly. If you are going to create a New Year's Resolution, it needs to be something that you want to do, then you are much more likely to actually do it.

Do you make New Year's Resolutions? What are they?

Sherlock Returns

Happy New Year readers! After a night of TFI, fireworks and the Big Ben Countdown, I am currently watching Little Women. I was watching The Vamps on Top Of The Pops and they were great! I have their new album.

Tonight, we have the return of Sherlock Holmes to look forward to. This time, the episode will be set in Victorian England. I'm not sure whether I am going to like it, as one of the reasons I love the BBC 1 series is that it is modern and current. Still, it looks interesting.

I hope this will be a great year of fun, excitement and of course, blogging!
