Today I Became A Sexpert!

Today my whole year at school had a surprise Sex Ed lesson (with the boys!). A sexual health expert was brought in from outside of school to make us all into "Sexperts". The lesson was filled with information on checking for cancer in intimate places, tests for sexual diseases and worst of all, pictures of extreme cases. These were beyond gross. And this all happened just before lunch. Thank God we were not served hot dogs!

That was not even the most shocking thing. They said they would give us a "Get It On" card that means we can go into pharmacies and get 6 free condoms a week until we are 25. So if your partner has one too, that's 12 a week! I don't think even the boys in my year are that obsessed! Still, you never know...

So, I have had a very eventful day. Are you a Sexpert, or have you not had the joys of year 11 Sex Ed yet?

Gemstones For Gemstar

I have always been fascinated by semi precious gemstones. I have collected them for many years now, buying them on holiday, in little shops and market stalls. My love for gemstones is also part of the reason for my pen name on this website.

Partly, I just like all the pretty colours and swirly patterns in the rock. But I also like the idea that there are meanings behind the stones. Some people believe they can bring particular qualities into your life, like love from Rose Quartz and wisdom from Amethyst. I am not sure whether or not I believe in their powers, but hope they are true!

The third reason I like them is I love the shops they are sold in. They are always colourful and filled with a range of interesting trinkets, with an atmosphere that is almost magical. I have just discovered one that comes complete with a brightly coloured sofa, gemstone information books and the soppiest dog you can imagine. I can't wait to go back.

Are you fascinated by Gemstones?

Free Rider

Normally, I am not a big fan of computer games. However, I have become slightly obsessed with an online game called Free Rider. It is a platform where people can design their own bike tracks and put them online for other people to complete. The tracks vary enormously in length, difficulty and design. Even better, new ones are created all the time.

Although the game is simple, it is very addictive and I always find myself playing it when I should be doing other things. In fact, I was playing it when I should have been writing this blog! I love how there are always new track designs for me to try.

To try Free Rider, click here. But be warned: extreme procrastination may result!

The Doctor Is Back!

I have just been watching the latest episode of Doctor Who and I loved it. It was funny, exciting and full of surprises - everything an episode of Doctor Who should be.

I was not sure about Bill when I first found out about her, but now I think she is brilliant. She is clever and imaginative, and yet asks some hilariously stupid questions. It gives her the perfect balance of intelligence, open mindedness and innocence needed for a companion. Nardole was also very funny.

Although Peter Capaldi is not my favourite doctor, I am warming to him. I will never like him as much as Matt Smith, but with Bill in his TARDIS, I think I am going to love his final series.

Did you see Doctor Who? What did you think of the latest episode?

Tattoo Artist Of The Year

I have always been a fan of the TV show Tattoo Fixers. I love the amazing pieces of art they come up with. I couldn't create these things on paper, and they are doing them on someones skin! I really like the people on it as well, especially Paisley and Sketch. But it is Jay who creates the most impressive tattoos, with his life like animals and perfect portraits.

Now though, there is a new programme that showcases other tattoo artist's talents. Tattoo Artist of the Year is a new competition testing the skills of the country's best tattoo artists. The challenges range from doing whatever tattoo you want on a pigs skin to doing specific things on real people. But best of all, it is judged by Jay from Tattoo Fixers. It is on E4 at 9pm every Tuesday.

I am fascinated by tattoos. Some of them can be really beautiful. Many of them are works of art, amazing pictures that you carry around on your skin. I love what they can symbolise as well, as you can use them to keep a memory with you all the time, or show the world your favourite thing. As long as they are not something you regret, of course!

I think I want a tattoo when I am older. I am not sure what I want one of yet though. The flower designs and mandalas can be very pretty, but I like the idea of something that will be more meaningful. A sea shell would be good, as I have lived by the sea my whole life. I also like the feathers and dolphins, while a paw print would be perfect to show my love of cats. What do you think I should have a tattoo of? Tell me in the comments.

My Saturday Night Out

I did not get home until 1.15am last night. But no, I was NOT in a night club with fake ID, thank you very much. I was at a family party in Somerset, because it was my Auntie and Uncle's 30th Wedding anniversary. Now that might not sound very exciting, but it was actually brilliant.

My Uncle loves classic heavy rock music, and so there was a band there called Snakebyte playing all the classics. They came complete with dramatic rock star costumes, with wigs and bandanas. The music was very loud, but I really liked it! Many of the songs I did not know, but there were some that I loved. At the end they played 3 of my favourites: Summer of 69, Sweet Child of Mine and Livin On A Prayer. Everyone was up dancing like crazy, myself included!

Overall, it was a great Saturday night out. Much more fun than your average family party!

Lorde's New Music

After a long wait, Lorde has finally brought out some new music. First it was Ribs and World Alone in January, then it was Green Light and Liability. All this leading up to the release of a new Album called Melodrama.

I love World Alone, as this is a lively song that still has her signature twisted, meaningful lyrics. I like Green Light too, although it is a bit more Pop than her usual work. Ribs is darker and weirder, but still good and very Lorde. However, I really don't like Liability. It is just to slow and sad for me.

Even though some of her new material is good, none of it can compare to her previous work. None of her new songs have been as popular as Royals in the charts, although maybe that is just the Ed Sheeran effect. The songs just don't stand out so much this time around.

Have you been listening to Lorde's new songs? What do you make of them?

Exam Survival

In a month and a half, I will be sitting my GCSEs. I am a little nervous, but not too worried, unlike some of the people in my year. They are on full scale panic mode. The work has made me too busy to blog regularly though, as you my have noticed. Are you panicking about exams? If so, here are my tips for exam survival.

1. Take the teacher's advice with great faith a pinch of salt . They are so obsessed with their own subject, they sometimes forget we are sitting 10 others.

2. Start studying weeks before the exam. Hahahahahahahahahahaha. No, seriously.

3. See how many Tic Tacs you can eat in the exam without the instructor noticing.

4. Ignore the stupid tyrannical revision plan the school gives you, and make your own sane one. If they had it their way, you would not do anything else for the next 6 weeks, including shopping and watching Big Bang. Both essentials.

5. No all night revision sessions before an exam. Unless you want to look like a zombie and fall asleep on your desk. Don't even go there.

6. If you find yourself procrastinating to a Dan Howell level, good luck. I think you might need it.

And finally, good luck!
